Cannabis concentrates come in many forms but hash oil is the oldest known form of cannabis concentrate. Often referred to as the mother of all concentrates, hash oil dates back centuries. It’s a commonly overlooked cannabis concentrate that has evolved over the centuries. The profound effect hash oil has had on the world has led to us to be able to enjoy all the wonderful products we can purchase legally today at an adult-use cannabis dispensary, like RiverBluff Roselle Dispensary! So, kick back in the cut, fire one up, and let’s learn about the mother of all weed stuff.

What is Hash Oil?

Hash oil is a highly versatile and potent cannabis concentrate. Hash oil is not RSO (Rick Simpson Oil) though both treat many of the same symptoms and have similar recreational effects. If you want to learn more about RSO you can read RSO: What You Need to Know. Hashish and hash oil date back to before 1123 CE, with many eating hashish directly or making primitive tinctures/potions. The exact time frame for hashish being used is debated by scholars but, it made its way into western medicine by 1845 when it was included in The British and The United States Pharmacopeias. As extraction methods improved, hash oil was refined into two different forms Full Spectrum Hash Oil (FSHO) and Broad Spectrum Hash Oil (BSHO) to better suit specific consumer needs.

FSHO vs BSHO

FSHO contains all the compounds extracted from cannabis while BSHO can be tailored more for certain needs by lowering amounts of specific compounds or eliminating them all together. Both can be used medicinally but FSHO is far more used recreationally as it will have its full potency. The compound usually limited in BSHO is THC. The THC is lowered for those who want to reap the benefits of cannabis without quite the intense high brought on by FSHO. If you are new to cannabis concentrates, BSHO is a great place to dip your toe in the water or oil as it is.

What Are They Typically Used For?

Both can be used recreationally to different effects but medicinally they keep many of the same benefits such as pain relief, decrease in addictive behaviors, reduced muscle spasms, nausea reduction, and better sleep. They are commonly used by those battling anxiety, epilepsy, glaucoma, irritable bowel syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and post-traumatic stress disorder. They have many other benefits and ailments they are good for so if you are interested in trying FSHO or BSHO to help with a chronic problem, do a little extra research to see if it may be right for you.

Consumption Methods

The earliest form of consumption was simply eating it and that is still one of the most popular methods. However, cannabis science has come a long way from its ancient roots. Hash oils now come in a syringe to be taken orally or used in cooking. It  also comes in capsule form and in vape cartridges. These oils are very potent so you may want to look at these Basic THC & Cannabis Microdosing Tips. Currently, RiverBluff doesn’t have any BSHO products available, but they do have a handful of FSHO vape cartridges by Aeriz. Checkout the shop page to see what’s in stock!
